Well, I did my best, and it was good…….really good !
Having got into the spirit of things by rolling around on the floor with Tashi and Jampa, batting catnip mice over a deep-pile rug and dragging one attached to string under the rug for us to pounce on, I had a leisurely wash ,a brief snooze and then I ambled off to attend a wedding reception at which I simply lounged decoratively around, allowing my shaved head to be stroked by friends and sampling the delicious, tender morsels of food that were brought to me. I found a sunny spot on a chair away from the loud music and thoroughly delighted in simply observing the goings-on……drifting in and out of a pleasant post-food doze.
Upon return home, (transported in the lap of luxury on the sweater and blanket laden back seat of a 4 x 4 in the afternoon sunshine !) I gently lapped a good cup of tea from my favourite saucer while Jampa and Tashi looked on in awe at their mistress’ new-found feline talents.
The 3 of us watched the fading sunset from underneath the poinsettia tree in the back garden while the humming birds distracted us with their flitting and dive-bombing around, and then we all 3 curled up in front of the television, cuddled together under the warmth of a sleeping bag.
At bedtime, there was a bit of a battle for the hot water bottle, a tussle which Tashi briefly won, and then we all settled down for night.
At about 3am, it was I….still unwilling to come out of cat mode, who chased away the invading tom from down the road who was trying to sneak in through the bathroom window.
Tashi and Jampa slept on.
What a great experience it has been to consciously take on a different persona. I truly feel that the depth of my relating to my two cats has changed and intensified since the funny sharing of yesterday.
Thank you so much for the invitation to take a deeper awareness of the true inner lives of our feline companions.
I hope everyone else enjoyed themselves as much as we 3 did here in our humble home up in the hills of the outskirts of Mexico City.
